Nitish govt may challenge Shahabuddin's bail in SC?

Patna, Sept 14 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): The Nitish Kumar government In Bihar is considering to challenge the bail granted to RJD strongman Mohammad Shahabuddin in the Supreme Court soon.

“The state government has planned to appeal against the bail granted to Shahabuddin in the apex court,” an unmanned state government official was quoted as saying in the local media on Wednesday.

The bail was granted by the Patna High Court on Wednesday last.

The development comes in the wake of the continuing protests in Bihar over the issue by the opposition and other sections of the society.

Today again, the opposition leaders under the aegis of the NDA staged a day-long sit-in in Patna, seeking cancellation of bail granted to the RJD leader and clamping of Crime Control Act (CCA) on him. The dharna was led by senior BJOP leader Sushil Kumar Modi.

Shahabuddin, however, remains unfazed by such developments. “It government wants to impose CCA against me, it can but I will live as per my style,” he told the media.

Shahabuddin walked out of jail after 11 years on Saturday and hurriedly kicked up a major controversy by stating that “Nitish Kumar is the chief minister by circumstances”.
