New Delhi to host key India-Australia Defence Talks amid Indo-Pacific focus
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles will co-chair the second India-Australia Defence Ministers' Dialogue in New Delhi on June 1.
According to an official statement, the dialogue will review the progress made in bilateral defence cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration between the two countries.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening defence and security cooperation, enhancing military interoperability, expanding defence industry partnerships, and exploring opportunities for co-development and co-production.
The two sides will also exchange views on regional and global security developments of mutual interest.
The meeting is expected to further deepen bilateral defence ties, strengthen strategic trust, and promote greater cooperation in support of peace, stability and security across the Indo-Pacific region. It will also seek to identify new areas of collaboration in defence and security.
Richard Marles' visit follows the inaugural India-Australia Defence Ministers' Dialogue held in Australia in October 2025 and reflects the growing momentum of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Australia remains a key partner in India's vision of a free, open, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific. The visit underscores the increasing depth, maturity and strategic significance of the defence partnership between the two nations.
