New Delhi, Mar 24 (IBNS): Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh on Tuesday said his 'disgust' and 'duty' tweets have been 'misinterpreted' and attending the Pakistan Day celebrations last night was a 'protocol'.

"My tweets on duty and disgust came under scrutiny and was misinterpreted," Singh said while addressing a press conference here.

Speaking on the issue of attending the Pakistan Day event in the country's High Commission in New Delhi , he said: "It was a protocol which every Minister of State of External Affairs have followed."

"There was nothing new in the event," he said.

Singh said he remained a loyal member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"I am loyal member of the party...There should be no doubt on how I stand on government policies," he said.

Singh said: "I am shocked at way certain sections of media had attacked me, my Prime Minister and my government."

Attacking Singh over his remarks, Congress leader Manish Tewari tweeted: "Sad to see a General who was ostensibly pressurized to go down the # duty# disgust route not walk the talk on resignation but shoots media!"
