My release according tolaw; no deal with PDP : Musarat Alam
Srinagar, Mar 11(IBNS) Separatist Hurriyat leader Masarat Alam on Wednesday said his release was in according to the law and there was no deal with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir.
"There was no deal with the PDP over my release. The government shouldn't take credit, I was released as per the law. I've got bail in 25 cases and been acquitted in two others," he said.
Alam's release by the PDP-led state government in Jammu and Kashmir has triggered a widespread controversy and uproar in Palriament prompting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify that the NDA government at the centre was not consulted before the move.
Alam was the mastermind behind the 2010 attacks in which hundreds of people lost their lives.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has already issued an ultimatum to its coalition partner Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir expressing its strong disapproval of Alam's release.
The Home Ministry has sought more clarification from Jammu and Kashmir government on Alam's release.
