Mumbai: Uber GM Shailesh Sawlani attacked
Mumbai, Dec 10 (IBNS): As the country reacts strongly over the Delhi rape case, Uber general manager Shailesh Sawlani was attacked by a man after he left the Transport Commissioner's office on Wednesday afternoon, reports said.
The attacker tried to hit Sawlani. However, he failed to actually reach him.
The identity of the attacker has not be ascertained yet.
Sawlani had gone to meet the Mumbai Transport Commissioner regarding the rape case against Uber driver Shiv Kumar Yadav.
"In the meeting it was decided that all radio taxi services will have to provide their driver databases by Thursday," CNN-IBN reported.
As outcry followed over the rape of the young woman by a driver of US-based Uber cab firm in Delhi, the national capital government has decided to ban all internet apps based radio taxi services.
The company is under scanner and its CEO in India wascalled by authorities. Reports said FIR had been lodged against Uber, which apparently had double standards in verifying records of drivers in India and elsewhere in other parts of the world.
Meanwhile, the Asia-Pacific head of Uber, Alexander, flew in from Hong Kong and met senior police officials to cooperate in the investigation.
