New Delhi/IBNS: In another feather in his cap, Narendra Modi is all set to become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the US Congress twice.

Modi has been invited by the US to address a joint meeting of the US Congress on June 22.

The two-term Prime Minister had last addressed the US Congress in 2016.

Kevin McCarthy, the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the US, tweeted, "It is my honor to invite @PMOIndia @narendramodi to address a Joint Meeting of Congress on Thursday, June 22nd. This will be an opportunity to celebrate the enduring friendship between the United States and India and speak to the global challenges our countries both face."

Accepting the invitation, Modi tweeted, "Thank you @SpeakerMcCarthy, @LeaderMcConnell, @SenSchumer, and @RepJeffries for the gracious invitation. I am honored to accept and look forward to once again address a Joint Meeting of the Congress.

"We are proud of our Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership with the US, built upon the foundation of shared democratic values, strong people-to-people ties, and an unwavering commitment to global peace and prosperity."

Other Indian Prime Ministers who have addressed the US Congress are Rajiv Gandhi (1985), PV Narasimha Rao (1994), Atal Bihari Vajpayee (2000), Manmohan Singh (2005).
