New Delhi/UNI: Senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa said Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and party general secretary Vinod Tawade will visit Bengaluru as central observers for the election of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state assembly.

"The central party leaders have told me that they would be sending two central observers—Vinod Tawade and Mansukh Mandaviya—to Bengaluru for the election of LoP," he told reporters late Sunday night.

The duo would collect the opinions of all the Karnataka BJP legislators and submit a report to the central leadership, Yediyurappa said.

"After this, the central leadership will take a decision on the election of LoP in the state assembly," he said.

The central observers will also take the opinions of Karnataka party legislators on the anointing of Karnataka BJP President, Yediyurappa said.

The former Karnataka chief minister was in New Delhi to meet National BJP President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for discussion on various state issues, including the election of LoP and the state BJP president's post.

"If needed, Amit Shah will call me again to New Delhi. They will take into account the political conditions prevailing in the state and make a decision," he said.
