Malegaon accused Purohit approaches SC against Bombay Court's bail rejection

New Delhi, Apr 28 (IBNS): Shrikant Purohit, a key accused in the Malegaon blast case, has moved the Supreme Court on Friday against the Bombay High Court rejecting his bail plea, media reported.

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur but denied it to Lt. Colonel Shrikant Purohit, in the 2008 Malegaon blast case.

Both were accused of plotting the blasts in Maharashtra's Malegaon in which seven people were killed.

According to media reports, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) alleged that Purohit had taken part in conspiracy meetings and even agreed to arrange for explosives.

Purohit, on the other hand, has claimed the NIA had dropped the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against him and those witnesses who gave statement under the MCOCA should not be considered while deciding the bail application, media reported.
