New Delhi, Apr 26 (IBNS) :  The Congress on Thursday announced the appointment of senior leader Kamal Nath as the state unit chief in Madhya Pradesh, which goes to Assembly polls later this year.

Kamal Nath, an old war horse, replaces Arun Yadav having been put at the top of choice list over Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

His   appointment comes days after the BJP named Rakesh Singh, a prominent face from tribal-dominated Mahakaushal region, as its MP unit president.

Along with Kamal Nath, four working presidents — Bala Bachchan (ST), veteran Ramniwas Ravat, Surendra Chaudhary (SC) and Malwa MLA Jitu Patwari have also been appointed.

Jytoriditya Scindia has been named as Chairman of the campaign committee.

A press release said the party "appreciates the hard work and and contribution" of the outgoing President Arun Yadav.
