Mungaoli/Kolaras, Feb 28 (IBNS): The Congress has taken a lead in Madhya Pradesh's Mungaoli and Kolaras Assembly seats, where by-polls were held on Saturday, media reports said.

As per the initial leads, the Congress is ahead of the ruling BJP in both the seats.

The constituencies Mungaoli and Kolaras had fallen vacant after the death of the MLAs in their respective seats.

Both the seats were won by the Congress in the last election.

The by-polls were more of a contest between Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Congress' Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Scindia had extensively campaigned for the Congress candidates in both the seats.

In another by-poll which was held in Odisha's Bijepur constituency, the ruling Biju Janta Dal (BJD) has taken a lead.
