Kolkata: Lenin statue vandalized

Kolkata, Mar 5 (IBNS): A statue of Russian communist revolutionary was vandalized by unknown attackers in Kolkata's Jadavpur area on Thursday.

Local people of Jadavpur 8-B area saw the broken statue on Thursday morning.

The Communist Party on India-Marxist (CPI-M) has lodged an FIR in Jadavpur Police Station in connection with the matter.

Local CPI-M leader Pranab Roy told IBNS that Trinamool Congress (TMC) councilor Tapan Dasgupta's followers, Babusona Sarkar and Amit Sarkar, were involved in the matter.

TMC leader Tapan Dasgupta has denied their involvement in the matter.

Police have started their investigation.
