Kerala nun rape case: Bishop Franco Mulakkal arrested

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 22 (IBNS): The police have arrested Catholic priest Franco Mulakkal who is accused of raping a nun.

He was arrested after the third day of questioning by the police on Friday.

"The investigating officer in the nun rape case has found that the bishop has committed the crime," Kottayam Superintendent of Police Hari Sankar was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal this month resigned from his position.

The Bishop is expected to be taken to Pala magistrate’s court on Saturday where police will seek his custody.

The Bishop was stripped of his powers by Pope Francis on Thursday, reports said.
