Kashmir receives fresh snowfall

Srinagar, Feb 1 (IBNS) Kashmir valley received fresh snowfall after a long dry spell on Sunday morning.

The light snowfall started in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley at around 10:30am.

The road and air traffic got affected for some time.

Meanwhile, the state administration has issued an avalanche warning in higher reaches of the Valley and people have been advised not to venture out in avalanche-prone areas.

According to official's meteorology department, District Development Commissioner, Doda Bhupinder Kumar has issued warning as the climate is likely to deteriorate from Feb 1 to 3 in the avalanche prone areas of the district which are above the altitude of 2500 meters.

The Deputy Commissioner has advised the people not to venture in an avalanche-prone areas during the period, besides cleaning snow deposition from roof tops of the houses and bunkers to avoid any untoward incident during the snowfall.
