Srinagar/UNI: An Army soldier died after he slipped and fell into a nallah near the Line of Control (LoC) in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, official sources said here on Friday.

They said that an Army jawan slipped and fell into a nallah while on duty near LoC in Katwar Gali in Kupwara on Thursday.

"The soldier was found unconscious by other jawans,” they said, adding he was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

They said jawan has been identified as Amir Hussain, a resident of Anantnag, who was with 56 Rashtriya Rifles (RR).

However, Defence Ministry spokesperson said the details are being confirmed.
