Srinagar, Nov 25 (IBNS): At least two suspected militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Bandipora district on Friday, police said.

A soldier was also killed in the incident.

A senior police official said that based on specific inputs about presence of militants in Manpora village of Naidkhai, Bandipora, the area was cordoned off at around 6 am by 13 RR and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police.

"As the forces roundup on the house, the hiding militants opened fire with automatic weapons in which one army man was injured who succumbed later in the army hospital. The militants tried to flee from the house but were killed," he said.

He further said that firing has stopped and the identity of the militants are being ascertained.

The slain militants belonged to Lashkar-i-Toiba (LeT).

Two AK-47 rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.

The security forces have also launched another anti-terror operation in the adjacent Sopore area of north Kashmir.
