J&K: Indian army denies unusual Pak troop movement along border
Jammu, Jan 2 (IBNS): The Indian army has refuted reports of any 'unusual' troop movement from the neighbouring Pakistan along the border in Jammu and Kashmir, reports said on Friday.
This comes after reports suggested that troops movement from Pakistan were spotted along the international border and Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The Indian Army has detected no troop build up or unusual movement from Pakistani army," CNN-IBN channel quoted an Indian Army statement.
On late Wednesday night, the Pakistani troops targetted 12 Indian posts along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident took place at an area where cross border firing killed an Indian jawan and four Pakistani soldiers.
Sources said that a civilian was injured in mortar shelling by Pakistani troops through the night in Samba district, 41 km from Jammu.
Meanwhile, BSF officials claimed that 50-60 terrorists were waiting to sneak into the Indian side in Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan.
Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner to lodge a strong protest on the ‘unprovoked firing of the Indian troops’ in the Zafarwal Sector which killed two personnel of Pakistani Rangers.
The Government of Pakistan had strongly condemned the action of the India’s Border Security Force (BSF) troops.
BSF Director General D. K. Pathak also briefed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the ceasefire violations by Pakistan Rangers at the International Border in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
Pathak had informed that one BSF jawan was killed in the unprovoked and premeditated Pakistani firing.
