Baramulla: At least one terrorist was killed during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla region on Saturday, police said.

The encounter broke out at Wanigam Bala village of the district this morning when a joint teams of security forces launched an anti militancy operation in the area.

“During the search operation, as the search party proceeded towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon the search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter one terrorist has been killed,” a security official told UNI.

The identity and the group affiliation of the slain militant could not be established.

Police said a search operation is going on in the area.
