Official sources said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) following a tip off about the presence of militants at Bagwanpora Noorbagh in Srinagar Saturday afternoon.

However, when the security forces were marching towards a particular area, militants opened fire, they said adding security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter.
