Udhampur: At least two pilots died as an army helicopter, in which they were travelling, crashed on the hills near Patnitop in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

"The pilots were evacuated by locals and rushed to a hospital," sources told UNI.

Sources said later died in the hospital, reports said.

Police said after receiving the information, a team was dispatched to the area.

Indu Chib, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, told UNI, "As per initial reports, the helicopter made a precautionary landing but we are verifying the facts. We cannot confirm if the chopper crashed.'

Meanwhile Deputy Inspector General of Police (Udhampur-Reasi) Suleman Chowdhary told UNI

"Due to excess fog in the area it is not clear whether it was a crash or crash landing by the helicopter," Chowdhary said.

On August 3, an Army chopper crashed into the Ranjit Sagar Lake in Basholi area of Kathua district in which two pilots were killed and the body of one of them was recovered.
