Huawei's India CEO approaches Delhi HC over I-T dept's look out circular

| @indiablooms | May 27, 2022, at 09:21 pm

New Delhi: Huawei Telecommunications (India) chief executive officer Li Xiongwe has challenged the look out circular (LOC) issued against him by the   Income-tax (I-T) department stopped him from flying outside India for a business meeting, media reports said.

Delhi High Court, which is hearing the petition, asked the I-T department why the notice should not be quashed.

Li, a Chinese national, was stopped at New Delhi airport on May 1 from boarding a flight to Bangkok to attend a meeting on behalf of Huawei India.

The court has asked the I-T department to respond to Li's Petition within a month.

Li has alleged that the officials did not provide any reason for LOC despite repeated requests.

His boarding pass was also cancelled and seized, he said

"This was a 'huge blow' to his reputation 'as well as to the reputation of Huawei India,'" the petition said.
