High alert along porous Indo-Nepal over terrorists' movements

Patna, Oct 20 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): Security has been intensified along the vast Indo-Nepal border in view of intelligence inputs that the terrorists may enter Bihar through the porous border.

The intensive patrolling has been started in the light of a report from Union home ministry asking for strict vigil along the border, as per reports in a section of media published on Thursday.

The reports suggested the terrorists may enter Bihar hiding their original identify and countenances, and may even use the lands in Nepal to carry out terrorists activities in Indian territory.

In view of the alert everyone crossing into Indian side of the border is being extensively searched using metal detectors and manually. Sniffer dogs have also been pressed into service.

Earlier this week, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested two persons suspected to have links with anti-India groups from Indo-Nepal border at Raxaul. The arrest took place on Tuesday.

Reports quoting NIA officials said electronic surveillance indicated they were constantly in touch with Pakistani nationals.

The persons who have both Indian and Nepali passports used to talk to people in Pakistan using phone of a local resident, authorities said.

Earlier this month, five more suspected terrorists were reportedly arrested from the Indo-Nepal border at Raxual by the NIA and a map of important places of Patna was recovered from their possession.
