Washington DC/IBNS: A 26-year-old man from the Indian state of Haryana was shot dead in California, US, when he objected to a man urinating in public, media reports said.

Kapil, the victim, was on duty as a security guard.

The son of a farming family from the Jind district of Haryana back in India had confronted the person who was urinating in public.

His family got to know about the death through a relative who is living in the US.

Village sarpanch Suresh Kumar Gautam said the family is planning to bring Kapil's mortal remains back to India.

Kapil is said to have entered the US two-and-a-half years ago through the "donkey route" crossing the Panama jungle and scaling the wall of Mexico border.

He had spent Rs. 45 lakh for the journey through the "donkey route".

Though he was initially arrested in the US, the man was released through legal proceedings and since then, he started living in the country.
