Gujarat: VHP 're-converts' over 200 Christians to Hinduism

Valsad, Dec 21 (IBNS): As a part of the 'ghar wapsi' plans, Hindu outfit Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday "re-converted" over 200 tribal Christians to Hinduism by holding rituals at Aranai village in Valsad district of Gujarat, media reports said.
The VHP said the "re-conversions" were voluntary and not by force.

They claimed that these tribals were originally Hindus who had earlier converted to Christianity and now were returning to Hinduism in a 'ghar wapsi' ceremony.

"As part of the ongoing 'Ghar-Vaapsi' programme, the VHP re-converted 225 people from Christian community and took them back into Hindu religion," Valsad district VHP chief Natu Patel told media.

The incident comes when much controversy has loomed with the Agra conversion issue.

Even the Parliament recently witnessed uproar on the issue of alleged forced conversion in Agra.

Some 200 Muslims were recently converted to Hinduism in a ceremony organized in Uttar Pradesh by groups like Bajrang Dal linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
