Gujarat cabinet's oath taking ceremony deferred

Gandhinagar/IBNS: The oath taking ceremony of the Gujarat cabinet led by new Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, scheduled to be held on Wednesday, has been deferred. The ministers will take oath on Thursday.

The decision was made at the last minute even after elaborate arrangements were made at the Governor's house and large hoardings were put up.

According to reports, the reason for deferring the oath taking ceremony is that the new council of ministers might face a sudden reschedule.

Informing about the decision, a tweet from the Gujarat Chief Minister's Office read: "The swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet of CM Shri @Bhupendrapbjp will take place tomorrow, September 16, 2021 at 1.30 pm at Raj Bhavan, Gandhinagar".

The entire Gujarat cabinet resigned last week along with former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

Ghatlodia MLA Bhupendra Patel took oath as the 17th chief minister of Gujarat on Monday, after being unanimously elected by the MLAs of the party as their leader.

According to reports, the major revamp was done eyeing the assembly elections in the state next year.
