Four elephants killed in Assam

Guwahati, Sept 27 (IBNS): Four elephants were killed in two separate accidents in Assam on Tuesday.

According to the reports, two elephants were killed in Karbi Anglong district last night after a speedy train hit the pachyderm.

The incident took place between Dimapur and Khatkhati area in the hills district at around 12-45 pm last night when Dibrugarh bound Rajdhani Express hit two elephants.

After the incident, a herd of elephant had blockade railway track for several hours.

Meanwhile, the North East Frontier Railway has set up an enquiry committee to probe the incident.

On the hand, two elephants died in Lower Assam's Baska district and oil rich Upper Assam's Digboi area.

Both the pancyderm died following electrocuted.
