Following SC's directive, Karti Chidambaram arrives at CBI office

New Delhi, Aug 23 (IBNS): Following the directive of the Supreme Court, former Union finance minister P Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram arrived at the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in an alleged corruption case, media report said.

Karti was earlier summoned by the CBI.

The apex court has directed Karti to appear before the CBI on August 23 with all documents. Karti has been allowed to be accompanied by a lawyer but not during the questioning.

The Supreme Court in the previous week stayed Madras High Court's order that had put on hold the look out notice issued against Karti Chidambaram

However, the top court will later decide whether the look out notice to be quashed or not.

The lookout notice was issued, according to media reports, to prevent Karti Chidmabaram and his associates from leaving the country following the filing of an FIR against them pertaining to Karti and INX Media being allegedly involved in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance given to the media house for foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2007.

The probing agency had claimed that the FDI proposal of the media house was "fallacious" but former Union finance minister Chidambaramhad cleared it, reported TOI.
