Five prisoners escape from Nagpur jail

Nagpur, Mar 31(IBNS) In a major jailbreak, five prisoners fled from the high security Nagpur Central Jail in Maharashtra early on Tuesday.

Taking a serious view of the incident, Maharashtra government has suspended the jailor, Vaibhav Kamble.

Reports said the  five prisoners who fled the jail are  Satyendra Gupta, Mohd Shoeb Salim Khan, Bisen Uikey, Prem Nepali and Akash Thakur.

The jail break took place between 2am and 4am after the inmates cut the iron rods of their barracks. However,no tunnel was discovered in the jail.

While the first three have been booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), the other two face charges under the Arms Act and Robbery.

Police have started an investigation into the incident and efforts are on to nab the escapees.
