Five feared dead after passengers fall off overcrowded train in Maharashtra's Thane

Thane/IBNS: Five people are feared dead after passengers fell off an overcrowded local train in Maharashtra Thane on Monday, media reports said.

As per reports, 10 to 12 people fell off the train which was travelling from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj terminus to Thane's Kasara.

The passengers fell due to overcrowding in the train, the railways said.

The injured have been rushed to hospital.

A probe into the incident is underway.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis posted on X, "... The local administration is coordinating efforts. I pray to God that the injured recover quickly. The railway department has initiated an inquiry into what exactly caused this incident."
