New Delhi/UNI: A day after agitating farmers held a 'Mahapanchayat' in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday threw his weight behind the farmers, saying they are 'fearless' and 'determined'.

"They're determined, they're fearless, they're here. Dispenser of India's destiny," he said in a tweet in Hindi. He also shared a photo of Sunday's Mahapanchayat and used the hashtag farmers protest in the tweet.

A massive Mahapanchayat was held in Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, seeking the repeal of the new farm laws enacted by the Centre last year.

Farmers leaders said they will campaign against BJP in the state, and across the country.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Sunday said that the state government supports farmers and alleged they were being misled.

Uttar Pradesh will go to polls early next year.
