Exit polls show Congress set to unseat BJP in Haryana

Gurugram: The Congress is projected to gain a huge victory in Haryana, dealing a massive blow to the ruling BJP, which has been in power for the past decade in the state, according to a collection of exit polls.

An analysis of eight exit polls suggests the Congress will secure 55 of the 90 seats in the Haryana assembly, while the BJP is predicted to win 26 seats.

Although exit polls can sometimes be inaccurate, as seen in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, these predictions suggest a major shift in the state's political landscape.

Dainik Bhaskar predicts the Congress will win between 44 and 54 seats, a substantial increase from the 31 seats it won in the previous election. The BJP is forecasted to win 15 to 29 seats, marking a sharp decline from the 40 seats it claimed in 2019.

Axis My India estimates the Congress will take 53 to 65 seats, with the BJP expected to secure between 18 and 28 seats.

When exit polls pointed to a big Congress win, Bhupinder Hooda, 77, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the party's leadership would make the final decision on the chief ministerial candidate.

Another poll, Dhruv Research, predicts the Congress will secure 50 to 60 seats, well above the 46-seat majority, while the BJP is expected to win 22 to 32 seats. India Today-C Voter forecasts 50 to 58 seats for the Congress and 20 to 28 seats for the BJP.

Peoples Pulse predicts the Congress will win between 49 and 61 seats, with the BJP taking 20 to 32 seats.

Ahead of the election, the BJP expelled eight members for running as independents against Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

The Congress also faced internal strife, expelling 13 members for "anti-party activities" after they decided to run as independents.
