Encounter breaks out in North Kashmir's Sopore

Srinagar, Jan 14 (IBNS) A fierce gun battle has started here between security forces and millitants in North Kashmir' Sopore town, 55 kms from Srinagar.

Sources told IBNS that on a tip off Police and army launched  a search operation in Sofi Hamam area of Sopore town, about the presence of some militants believed to be inside a house.

When the security forces approached towards the house, the militants opened fire at them with automatic weapons triggering a gunbattle which is still on at 10 am.

Senior police officials  of the town told IBNS that initial reports suggest that one  Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist t is inside the house.
