Earthquake measuring 7.7 magnitude hits North India, epicentre in Afghanistan

Nw Delhi, Oct 26 (IBNS): A strong earthquake measuring 7.7 on Richter Scale hit north India on Monday with major tremors felt in Delhi, Kashmir, Haryana and Punjab, media reports said.
The quake had its epicentre in the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan. Major tremors were even felt in Pakistan.
 
The US Geological Survey (USGS) has put the magnitude of the quake at 7.7 on the Richter Scale.
 
People rushed out of offices and homes in Delhi as well as in Chandigarh.
 
Metro services have been halted in the national capital.
 
In Srinagar, phone and electricity lines are down.
 
So far no casualties have been reported.
