DRI recovers gold biscuits worth Rs 3.47 crore from Kolkata, 2 held

Kolkata, Apr 16 (IBNS): Acting on a tip off, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Friday seized 70 pieces of gold biscuits from Kolkata and booked two persons in connection with the case, officials said on Saturday.

According to reports, DRI officials held two suspects from Sealdah area and recovered at least 11.65 kg gold biscuits from their possessions.

"After primary investigation, we have come to know that the gold biscuits were smuggled into India from Myanmar and those were being trafficked through Kolkata-corridor," a senior DRI official told IBNS.

"We have booked two persons, who hail from Mizoram, in connection with the case and we are quizzing them to know more about the gold trafficking racket," the official added.
