Kolkata, Jan 16 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday congratulated Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav for being granted as the rightful owner of Samajwadi Party's symbol-cycle.

"Congratulations @yadavakhilesh for getting SP symbol. You deserve it," Banerjee tweeted.

Gearing up for the Uttar Pradesh polls, state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has been declared as the owner of the cycle symbol of the Samajwadi Party.

Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav lost the batle for the symbol.

The Election Commission said Akhilesh Yadav faction can use the symbol.

With SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav staking claim over the ‘cycle’ symbol, the battle within the party had reached the EC.

The Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh  will be held in seven phases between Feb 11 and Mar 8.
