Cricketer Mohammed Shami's estranged wife Hasin Jahan joins Congress

Mumbai, Oct 17 (IBNS): Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami's estranged wife Hasin Jahan has joined the Congress party.

She was inducted to the outfit by Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam on Tuesday.

Jahan, who is a model by profession, was in the news earlier this year after she alleged that Shami had physically and mentally abused her.

She had also said Shami was involved in several extra-marital affairs.

After Hasin Jahan lodged a complaint with the Kolkata Police against Shami and his family, city police started investigation into the matter and interrogated the couple in April.

Shami, however, denied all allegations against them.
