Congress targets Big B over Panama papers leak

| | May 25, 2016, at 11:12 pm
Mumbai, May 25 (IBNS): The Congress on Wednesday questioned the decision to name Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan as the host of a special event here on Saturday to mark two years completion of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre after his name allegedly emerged in the Panama papers leak.

"What message are you giving to the investigative agencies when a person accused of money laundering is seen hosting a program to celebrate two years of Modi government? The PM should think over the issue," Randeep Surjewala said while addressing a press conference here.

Bachchan earlier negated suggestions of him having any kind of links with offshore companies listed in the Panama papers leak.

In one of the worst scandals involving huge number of  rich and famous  across the globe, a  massive leak of 11.5 million tax documents has exposed the secret offshore dealings of aides to Russian president Vladimir Putin, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and celebrities including Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and actor Jackie Chan, reports said.

500 Indians are also named in the documents.
