Civil and social involvement needed to preserve our heritage: PM Modi

New Delhi, July 12 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called for involving society in the preservation of the country's heritage, reports said.

Inaugurating the new headquarters building of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in New Delhi, Modi said that India must take pride in the rich history of our nation.

"We need to devise new ways to promote civil and social involvement in preserving and promoting our historical heritage," he said.

The PM said that even the corporate sector employees could be encouraged to donate 10-15 hours for historical monuments in an institutional manner.

Modi also suggested that locals school syllabus must include chapters on local history to ensure that its importance does not get diluted over the time.
