New Delhi, Aug 6 (IBNS): Creator of popular comic character Chacha Chaudhary, Pran Kumar Sharma died of cancer on Tuesday night. He was 75.

Pran will be cremated at 2.30 pm on Wednesday.

Born in Kasur near Lahore, now in Pakistan, Pran began his career as a cartoonist in 1960. Nine years later he sketched the comic super-hero Chacha Chaudhary for the Hindi magazine Lotpot.

He also created other popular comic characters like Shrimatiji, Pinki, Billoo, Raman and Channi Chachi which were regularly published in many Indian magazines and lapped up by children through decades.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the death of Pran describing him as “a versatile cartoonist who brought smiles on the faces of people through his rich work.”
