Central government releases Rs 2,160 cr as drought-relief fund for Maharashtra
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 8 (UNI) The Centre released Rs 2,160 crore under the National Disaster Relief Fund for carrying out relief works across drought-hit parts of Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing on Tuesday timely help to tackle severe drought situation prevailing across the state.
Fadnavis on Wednesday held an e-conference with the concerned officials and Sarpanchs of drought-affected villages here so as to take stock of the existing situation,a release said.
Previously, the Centre has released Rs 4,248.59 crore for drought mitigation while the Maharashtra government handed out Rs 4,000 crore financial assistance to the affected farmers.
The state government has also implemented a slew of relief measures, including deployment of water tankers and setting up fodder camps, across Marathwada as well as other drought-hit parts of the state.
