BSF troops apprehended two Indian weapon courier at Bongaon

Kolkata, Mar 25 (IBNS) Troops of 26 Bn BSF have seized ten numbers of country made fire arms without trigger mechanism in the area of Bongaon bus stand under Bongaon Police Station of North 24 Parganas and apprehended two active weapon courier on Tuesday at about 7.50 am, officials said on Wednesday.

"Specific information received by BSF Intelligence branch regarding movement of weapon carrier along with weapon towards border area.  On getting information Shri Pushpender Singh Rathore, DIG, SHQ Krishnanagar and Shri D.K. Parmanik, Comdt. of 26 Bn planned a joint operation in coordinationwith SDPO Police Bongaon," the BSF said in a statement.

"During the raid and search at Bongaon bus stand, joint ops party intercepted one male and a female with a nylon bag. During thorough search by BSF and police, ten numbers of country made fire arms without trigger mechanism, 20 live round of 7.65 mm along with two Kg white chemical powder recovered from their possession and they disclosed their identity as Abdul Rauf Mandal, 52 years, S/o Sifatulla Mandal and his wife Rahima Mandal, 45 years , R/o Vill. – Patkilpota, PO – Amdok, PS – Bagdah, Dist. – North 24 Pargana," it said.

" During preliminary interogation Rahima Mandal admitted that, she had received the consignment from an unknown person from Jamalpur, Bihar and was to further hand over these items to namely Taleb Mandol, S/o Abu Bakka Mandol, R/o Vill – Patkilpota, PO – Amdok, PS – Bagdah, Distt. – North 24 Pargana," read the statement.

The apprehended persons along with seized arms, ammunition and chemical powder were handed over to Bongaon police for further investigation.

An FIR has been lodged with Bongaon police station.

The BSF and the police ware trying to apprehend other accomplish weapon racketeers on the basis of information acquired from the apprehended persons.
