BJP to finalise candidate list for Delhi polls today

| | Jan 19, 2015, at 06:30 pm
New Delhi, Jan 19 (IBNS): The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday will finalise its list of candidates for the crucial Delhi elections scheduled next month, media reports said.

The party’s Central election committee, headed by BJP president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will meet at 7 pm to finalise the list of candidates.

The high-level meeting will take place amid rumors that the saffron brigade could decide to project retired IPS (Indian Police Service) Kiran Bedi, 65, as the BJP’s candidate for chief minister in the national capital.

The former top cop was para-dropped in the BJP as a party ace last week.

Sources said the panel is also likely to announce a campaign committee for Delhi. The body could be headed by Bedi.

It is also learnt that the party is to be looking for a sure-shot seat for her.
