BJP moves EC for AAP leader's 'sexist' remark

| | Jan 31, 2015, at 09:25 pm
New Delhi, Jan 31 (IBNS) The Bharatiya Janata Party today complained to the Election Commission against Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas for his alleged sexist remarks against their chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi.

A BJP delegation led by Nirmala Sitharaman filed the complaint with the EC, saying this was a violation of model code of conduct and urged the poll panel to take action.

"We all went to file the complaint against him. The senior leader of AAP are making such derogatory remarks in presence of Arvind Kejriwal. We have asked to take action against Kumar Vishwas and Arvind Kejriwal," BJP leader Shazia Ilmi, who was part of the delegation, told reporters.

"They will surely take action soon. The BJP has women leaders and it is very derogatory to make such remarks," Ilmi, a former AAP leader who joined the BJP recently, said.

Meanwhile, Bedi tweeted that she has filed a police complaint against Vishwas. "A police complaint has been lodged against Kumar Vishwas' sexist comments at a recent rally in the presence of their leadership," she said in the tweet.
