BJP lashes out at Tamil Nadu minister's 'nauseating' comment on PM Modi

Chennai: The BJP has strongly condemned Tamil Nadu Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan’s derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and termed them “nauseating,” media reports said.

Anitha Radhakrishnan, who is the Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, in an election rally said PM Modi inaugurated projects to honour key figures like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Kamarajar to attract voters of their communities.

“You erected Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s statue to seek Patel community votes. Such disgusting tactics are used by Prime Minister Modi,” he was quoted as saying by India Today.

The DMK leader also criticised Modi's recent address in Salem, Tamil Nadu, saying that Modi spoke about independence activist Kamarajar as if his party had a close association "…as though they embraced him and brought him to the front," he said.

In response, the BJP's Tamil Nadu unit slammed these comments. In a post on X, the party said Radhakrishnan's remarks about Modi were "disgusting," and pointed out that Modi humble background and lifelong dedication to serving the people of India.

The tweet also said that DMK MP Kanimozhi witnessed this alleged distasteful behaviour.

"But, this is not surprising! Infact, this is the vile, vulgar political culture that is in the very DNA of the DMK!," the tweet said.

The BJP went on to say that Kazimozi "enjoys the speech on stage, exposing her pseudo-feminism" and did not even condemn the usage of the offensive term.

"People will teach the DMK and I.N.D.I. Alliance a fitting lesson! The law will also do its duty! This time the 'Rising Sun' will go down the horizon," it added.
