Bihar must be protected from malicious intentions of RJD and Congress: PM Modi

Patna/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress over dynasty politics in poll-bound West Bengal.

Addressing a rally in Motihari, Modi accused the RJD and Congress of double standards alleging the two opposition parties do "politics in the name of poor" but "don't give respect to people outside their families".

"Congress and RJD have been doing politics in the name of the poor, Dalits, backward classes, and tribals. But far from ensuring equal rights, they don’t even give respect to people outside their families," the Prime Minister said.

"The arrogance of these people is being witnessed by the entire Bihar today. We must protect Bihar from their malicious intentions," he added.

Highlighting the prospects of Bihar, Modi said, "Bihar lacks neither capability nor resources. Today, Bihar's resources are becoming a means of its progress.

"You see, since the efforts of the NDA government, the prices of makhana have increased significantly because we have connected the makhana farmers here to larger markets. We are forming the Makhana Board."

The Prime Minister said Bihar's development is key to the development of eastern India, which he claimed to be the dominant part of the country in the current era.

"In the 21st century, the world is moving at a very fast pace. The power that was once exclusive to Western countries is now increasingly being dominated and shared by the Eastern nations.

"The Eastern countries are now gaining new momentum in development. Just as Eastern nations are advancing in the global race for development, similarly, in India, this is the era of our country's eastern states. To develop Eastern India, we have to build a Viksit Bihar," he said.

Bihar, where Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a part of the ruling coalition, will head to polls later this year.
