Mumbai, Dec 30 (IBNS) : The Censor Board for Film Certification (CBFC) has passed Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmavati with a change in its name, reports said.

According to reports, the board passed the film, which triggered a huge row across the country,  with a UA certificate and some other modifications.

The reports said the Examining Committee of  CBFC viewed the film on December 28 and altered its title  from Padmavati to Padmavat.

'Padmavat' is the name of an epic poem written in the middle ages by  by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi.

The film, based on the life of Rajput queen Padmini, has run into trouble with Rajput groups alleging that it distorts history.

This forced the makers to defer the release of the film on December 1.

Besides Deepika Padukone being in the title role, the film  stars Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, among other lead roles.
