Bangladeshi cattle smuggler kills BSF constable
Kolkata, Jan 8 (IBNS): A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed on Thursday while trying to stop Bangladeshi cattle smugglers in Indo-Bangladesh border.
Approximately 150 Bangladeshi cattle smugglers armed with country made weapons and bamboo stick etc entered into Indian territory forcefully in wee hours and in process of smuggling large numbers of cattles, intercepted by BSF personnels.
On being challenged, they encircled BSF party and attacked them with a weapon and bamboo sticks and fired with country made pistol.
Due to firing of Bangladeshi cattle smuggler, one BSF Ct namely Rashikul Mondal who was chasing smugglers to arrest them and seized cattle, sustained injuries of fire arms on his right eye.
Bangladeshi cattle smugglers also fired on the BSF vehicle which was carrying re-inforcement.
To disperse violent cattle smugglers, BSF fired few rounds of pump action gun in the air. Taking the advantage of dense fogg and darkness Bangladeshi cattle smuggler managed to escape into Bangladesh territory.
The injured constable Rashikul Mondal was immediately evacuated to sub-division Hospital Basirhat. After administering First Aid he was referred to R G Kar Hospital, Kolkata, where he was declared brought dead by medical officer.
A commanding officer level flag meeting was held today in which BSF Commandant strongly protested the brutal attack on BSF personnel by Bangladeshi criminals and requested them to arrest the culprit immediately. BSF HQ has also taken the incident very seriously and contacted BGB HQ at Dhaka in mark of protest.
It was requested to BGB authorities to check entry of Bangladeshi nationals into Indian Territory. One Indian cattle smuggler name Bilas Biswas also received injuries and taking treatment in unknown private nursing home.
Cattle smugglers of Bangladesh and India are now making attempt to forcefully smuggle the cattle from the unfenced and riverine gaps on INDO-Bangladesh border by resorting violent means.
During the year 2014, a total 78 BSF jawans sustained serious injuries in the attack by cattle smuggler of Bangladesh in South Bengal Frontier.
