Assam: Two top Karbi militants nabbed

Guwahati, Aug 25 (IBNS) : Two top leaders of newly formed Karbi Land Protection Force (KLPF) were apprehended and huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from them by security forces in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Monday, police said.
Following a tip-off, a joint team of the police, the Army and the CRPF had launched an operation at Hidipi forest under Dilai and Manja police station in the hills district and nabbed the militant duo.
 
The nabbed militants were identified as KLPF Chairman Dhuniram Teron and General Secretary Manoj Teron.
 
Karbi Anglong district SP Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta said that, security personnel recovered two AK-56 rifles with ten magazines, one 7.65mm pistol, 255 rounds live ammunition of AK-56, four rounds live ammunition of 7.65mm pistol, one Lathod rifle, six live grenades of Lathod rifle, a magazine of 9mm pistol in possession from nabbed militants.
