Assam Congress protests against fuel price hike

Guwahati, May 22 (IBNS): Riding on rickshaw, cycle and pushing thela, the Congress leaders and party workers of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Tuesday protested against Union government's failure to control fuel price in Guwahati. 

The Congress leaders reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP about their 2014 Lok Sabha election slogan 'Bahut hui mehangai ki maar, ab ki baar BJP ki sarkar'.

The protest was led by APCC president and Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora.

Over 1000 party workers participated in the protest rally.

On Tuesday, per litre petrol price in Guwahati was recorded at Rs 79.03 while diesel price was Rs 71.07.

On December 1, 2017, per litre petrol price in Guwahati was Rs 71.13 and diesel was Rs 60.88.

APCC president Ripun Bora said that, the fuel price was not hiked during the Karnataka assembly elections and when it was over the price was hiked from Rs. 3 to Rs 3.50.

Ripun Bora further said that, all essential commodities' prices will be hiked as a result and common people will be definitely affected.

On the other hand, Assam Congress leader Babita Sarmah said that, during the election period, they made one by one jumla.
