Andhra Pradesh : TDP scores sweeping victory in Kakinada civic polls

Kakinada, Sep 1 (IBNS) : The ruling Telugu Desam Paty (TDP) of Andhra Pradesh on Friday recorded a thumping victory in the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) election, winning 32 of the 48 divisions while its ally the BJP chipped in with three, media reports said.

The opposition YSRC won 10 seats.

The election results have further boosted the TDP's morale after the party’s victory in the Nandyal Assembly byelection earlier this week.

In the Kakinada local election, the TDP had contested only 39 of the 48 divisions, leaving the rest for the BJP.
