Amit Shah chairs high-level India-Pakistan border security review in Rajasthan

The meeting was attended by Bhajan Lal Sharma, senior officials of the Rajasthan government, as well as District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from five border districts — Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sri Ganganagar and Phalodi.

The discussions focused on strengthening border management through enhanced coordination between the Centre and the state government.

During the meeting, it was decided to formulate a “360-degree security framework” for every border district. The integrated model will involve local residents, state government machinery and all concerned security agencies to ensure comprehensive and robust border management.

Amit Shah stressed the need for strict enforcement of a zero-tolerance policy against illegal constructions, especially within 0-15 kilometres of the international border. He directed authorities to demolish all unauthorised structures in the restricted zone.

The Home Minister also emphasised a coordinated border management strategy involving the Border Security Force, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Narcotics Control Bureau and the Rajasthan government to tackle infiltration, narcotics smuggling, encroachment, terror financing and other trans-border crimes.

Shah directed District Magistrates to take on enhanced responsibilities, including ensuring legal and financial compliance by banks, verifying major business establishments, scrutinising funding sources, tracking mule accounts and shell companies, identifying fake Aadhaar cards and preventing smuggling activities.

He also instructed officials to ensure effective utilisation of the ‘1930’ cybercrime helpline for quick redressal of cyber fraud cases and to fully implement the three new criminal laws to strengthen law enforcement and judicial processes in border regions.

The meeting further stressed the effective implementation of the Vibrant Village Programme Phase-II to strengthen last-mile governance, bridge infrastructure gaps, curb economic crimes and support people living in border villages.

Officials reiterated the goal of achieving 100 per cent saturation of all government welfare schemes in border areas.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India remains committed to ensuring the highest standards of border security while promoting stronger coordination between Central and state agencies for the holistic development and safety of border regions.
